History of Graceway Baptist Church

Following six months of Bible studies in conference rooms and various outreaches in the Footscray area, Graceway officially launched with community events and grand opening services at the Hoadley Scout Hall, Footscray, VIC.
In 2023, Pastor Josh Zacharias, pastor of Graceway, began serving as the Assistant to the Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, Bayswater, VIC. Over the next two years, the Lord began to direct him to plant a church in Footscray. With prayer, planning, and godly counsel, he and a small group of passionate believers began holding Bible studies and sharing the gospel in Footscray at the end of 2024. It is a blessing to look back and think about those involved and the lives that were touched in those early days of Graceway.
In the winter of 2025 with the help of several independent Baptist churches from Victoria including Faith Baptist Church of Fawkner, Graceway prepared for the Grand Opening, and Graceway was able to move into the Hoadley Scout Hall for services in June 2025. The Grand Opening was a beautiful time for many. To God be the glory!
Now as a young church, Graceway continues to operate as a ministry of Faith Baptist Church which supplies encouragement, prayers, and other support. With the goal of glorifying God and furthering the gospel of Jesus, Graceway extends a warm welcome to the community to visit and be a part of what God is doing.

“The best decision I have ever made was accepting God’s free gift of grace and trusting Jesus as my personal Savior from sin. Since I was a young person, I have been involved in serving the Lord in various ways such as outreach, kids’ ministry, and choir. Wanting to deepen my ability to serve, I studied theology at Pensacola Christian College and Pensacola Theological Seminary in Pensacola, FL. Most recently, the Lord gave me the opportunity to serve as the Assistant to the Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church, Bayswater, VIC. Now I am excited to follow God’s leading to serve the people of Melbourne’s inner west. I would love for you to visit and to get to know you!”
